AKQA is a leading international interactive agency. It offers a full range of digital services including online advertising and media, web design, strategic consultancy and new mobile platforms. I spent three years working at this agency (two years full time, one year as a contractor).



Orange is one of the world's most advanced and fastest-growing mobile communications companies.I developed content across all sections of the Orange website, including:

  • consumer site, featuring product and service information, sponsorship, and 'how to' pages
  • e-sales section, 'the Orange shop'
  • Orange Business Solutions: small business and corporate sections

    As well as writing web copy I developed innovative online advertising concepts, and viral marketing campaigns; wrote emails, press releases, competitions and instructional copy.

  • Orange Ringtones online advertising

    The brief was to encourage mobile users to personalise their phones with ringtones and logos.I developed a series of banner and rich media executions to excite customers about the fun to be had 'dressing up' their mobile phones. Because of such high levels of response the campaign was extended.

    Text alerts

    Banner campaign to drive traffic to Orange Multimedia services.

    Motorola microsite

    Wrote copy and co-concepted this Motorola/Orange promotion. The success of this microsite led Orange to run several more co-funded promotions.


    A low budget TV commercial for the launch of the new Palm Hand-held with Bluetooth functionality. Using stock video footage we created an upbeat, urban themed 30 second spot that targeted ‘early adopter’ professionals.

    MSN - Microsoft’s online portal

    MSN UK is one of Europe’s most popular portal sites, boasting some 12.7m monthly visitors.I wrote editorial and advertising copy for MSN and developed creative concepts, emails, seasonal campaigns, competitions and press releases.

    MSN Christmas

    MSN wanted to show customers the massive range of gifts available to buy through the MSN Shopping channel, in a format that would engage and inspire them. I developed a campaign idea that fulfilled the brief by focusing on family member demographics supplied by MSN.

    60,400 click-throughs from online ad media to the MSN Shopping site were recorded during the campaign – meaning a higher than average click-through rate of 1.02%. The campaign was a finalist in New Media Age Effectiveness awards 2003.

    Microsoft UK

    I wrote editorial and advertising copy and developed creative concepts, emails and press releases for product families including: Windows, Office, Servers, and Developer Tools. I also worked on Games and Xbox, Business Solutions, and generated and edited content for IT professionals and developers.


    Sainsbury’s is a leading UK and US Supermarket, in the UK incorporating the online delivery service Sainsbury’s to You. AKQA created an award winning site with over 200,000 user sessions each month. I wrote web copy, online advertising concepts, emails, press releases, business to business content.

    British Council

    I developed campaign ideas and web copy and wrote content for the British Council Indian website. I was part of the creative team that concepted three flash banners to highlight the ingenuity of British industry.
